When you find yourself in an unfamiliar place, you seek what comes closest to family.

That is exactly what Bro.Manny Escalante(UP’ 73) and Bro.Alan Cruz (UST

’86) did, look for Tau Gamma Phi in Calgary.

With nothing more than a phone, a telephone number and name from Yvette

Peynado, our Triskelion Worldwide database keeper, Manny and Alan found each

other for the first time. For these two brothers, it was easy to connect with an

unknown Triskelions while visiting places around North America. In Edmonton,

landing just a few days in Canada as an immigrant, Manny met Bro.Joey Talens from PMMS, who welcomed him warmly at the first meeting.

It is now time to set up the Tau Gamma Phi in Calgary. In the home of Alan in

November 15, 2004 (Southern Alberta Regional Council Founding Date), they

met and immediately bonded. Common experiences, common friends, common

Triskelion past brought two people to start a new beginning. Then came Bro.Bayani

Del Rosario(UP ‘87) who similarly invited the two in his home in May 2005.

Brod Donnie Arteta (TYM 92) a recent immigrant, again through the web network,

likewise discovered his old family in 2005. This handful of men continued to search

and to welcome more brothers and sisters with the Triskelion spirit in Calgary. Brod

Moy Lucas (Sta Catalina 92), who came to Calgary 15 years ago, married and is

raising a young family was excited to know that he has Triskelion brothers in the city. Calgary was now in the radar of fellow Triskelions. Tau Gamma Phi Calgary was honored to welcome their first guest to visit them – Paeng (UP) from Vancouver who came with his family. It was a short celebration but intense and full of fun (and food) in the summer of 2006.

Brod Odie Limbaga (TYM 91) also a Calgarian for 15 years was joyfully surprised to

meet his brothers in 2007. Sis Marinelle Arlantico (Arellano U.) was the first sister.

She joined together with the younger batch like Jeck , Mackie , RJ and Jai . And so

these people gathered for the first Anniversary celebration in Calgary in October 4, 2007. There are more brothers who have called Calgary home for more than 20

years – like Nestor and a few more to be “re-connected”.
